Have you heard the news? Colossal Biosciences, a company dedicated to “de-extinction,” has successfully genetically engineered three wolf pups designed to resemble the long-extinct dire wolf. Using CRISPR to edit gray wolf DNA and domestic dogs as surrogates, the team produced pups with long white fur, powerful jaws, and a projected adult weight of up to 140 pounds.
