Like every slogan this administration drums up to pacify us in the short term, Freedom Fuel, unsurprisingly, is nothing like its name implies and joins all the other gimmicks that came before it--empty and full of hot air.
My 6'3" husband and I (5'9") bought an Equinox EV. We both love it; my husband says it's the best car we've ever owned. It's quiet, has great acceleration, and is very comfortable. Best of all is passing by all the gas stations and not worrying how much gas is today.
Did you know that for every gallon of gas, at least in my state of OH, the taxes are 56.9 cents at $3.99 a gallon? State Fuel Tax: 38.5 cents per gallon.Federal Fuel Tax: 18.4 cents per gallon. I just started leasing an EV - BMW i5 and it is liberating to be able to just plug it in. But finding an electric car now isn't easy at all - few choices and then no inventory on car lots. BMW was able to find a car for me - I totaled my Lincoln MKZ - wanted another sedan and Ford/Lincoln decided that no one wants sedans anymore, much less electric. Hopefully there will be more choices in 3 years when my lease is up... the orange one is so tied up with oil companies that as long as he's in power, there won't be much of a shift to electric. And I won't ever consider a Tesla...
We have plug in hybrids. We wanted to cover the emergency situations in which electricity is not available, having been in a major earthquake. My car is 8 years old and still works beautifully, but requires once a year oil change and maintenance. Electric cars do not require once a year maintenance. They don’t use oil and their parts rarely wear out. But they are more expensive, and many people live in apartments without outlets for car chargers. However, I believe in the post trump future both problems will be addressed. Trump has set us back so much.
My son recently bought an EV Chevy Silverado truck. It’s quiet and efficient. And beautiful. He goes long distances and charges it at charging stations. There’s usually a restaurant nearby. He hooks it up, gets take out, enjoys a bite while it charges up. That never takes too long. For him it really is freedom from fuel.
I’m so tired of the thievery with this administration and its cronies. And everyone who voted for this mess.

I've been driving electric for 1,5 years now. I have a charger at home. Love it.
