I think this particular time-lapse video is more interesting than most. I had finished the cartoon, then decided I wasn’t really happy with the “mouth” of the drop box. It didn’t look menacing enough, so I redrew that part of the cartoon. This gives you a little bit of a “behind the scenes” peak of the creative process.
Today, I’m officlly launcing the “paid” version of the newsletter. The regular cartoons will continue to be free, and I really don’t think that will ever change. However, the the time-lapse videos, sketches, random musings and behind-the-scenes peaks into my prcoess will be part of the paid newsletter, which will be $5 per month. Plus, paid subscribers can feel satisfaction in knowing they are helping support editorial cartooning. It’s a tough business, and newspaper rarely hire cartoonists anymore.
Whatever you decide, I hope you will all continue to stick around. I appreciate all the support and readership, even if it’s only for the free version of the email.
