Abbott doesn't care about the schools or the people or anything else in his state. He is a mean hateful old man who is mad as hell because he is in a wheelchair. He has been taking out his spite on anyone within his reach for many years. He needs to retire yesterday.
They should give more money to public schools and not vouchers for private schools. I taught for 40 years in a small town public school that graduated lawyers, doctors, teachers, newspaper editors, and many business majors, one who was a buyer for Walmart. The voucher system has practically destroyed the public schools. Our future teachers pay exceedingly high tuitions, even to state schools, and are not compensated for their efforts. They are severely undervalued. Public schools are for everyone, and give everyone a chance to succeed if they take advantage of it.
I have been reading the comments my fellow Pen Strokes have posted. You all are fabulous Americans. You are articulate and well spoken. It is indeed heartening to read what you write and to know that democratic feeling is not dead and gone. Well done!
Abbott & other red state leaders are pushing vouchers for 2 main reasons I think. 1 is the call from conservatives to privatize public education which warms the heart of betsy devos and others who see profit in everything except actually investing in people (kids). 2 allows “private” schools to not
follow government mandated standards, at the same time letting the religious right take control of
educating all kids, under only their beliefs excluding others. separation of church and state…what you talkin about willis?
There seems to be something wrong with the voting in Texas. All kinds of nice people on television programs and interviews yet they still vote in people like Abbott and Cruz and Cornyn and Dan Crenshaw and Pat Fallon and Keith Self. They have a whole lot of Trump and not much else.
Only in TexASS. My question is "How do these lousy people (if you can call them people, they're certainly not human like) get elected to positions where people that live in state depend on fair and equitable treatment and funding decisions?" I am glad I'm a Marylander and it is predominately a Democratic state. Someone should push his ass over the end of the pier.

Mort Sahl said Nixon would throw a 6-foot rope to a man drowning in 10 feet of water and say he met him more than half way ..

The bitter little Nazi is much too busy having lethal traps set in the Rio Grande to bother with education.
