OK, who couldn't see this coming, like from Ulan Bator, Mongolia ? or South Dakota ? it was on the horizon. Putin wants a new Soviet Union, I'm willing to bet my poker & / or lottery winnings.

Putin, always ready to ‘flex his muscles,’ is, like Trump proved himself, not ready for Prime Time.’ People throughout the World, including Russia, are against this.

I see posts on Facebook on a page called "View from my Window". It started at the beginning of the pandemic as a way for people all over the world to connect. We see back yards, front yards, whatever can be seen from a window in a home. Lately there have been many posts from Ukraine. Mostly women, but a few men as well. And to a person, they are ready to take up arms, or BB guns or frying pans against a Russian invasion. The news says they're nervous, but posts from Kiev say differently. They have sent children to relatives in other countries when possible, but they certainly don't sound like shrinking violets. The love their homes/their country and they're not about to be bullied. Everyone from American who responds says we are thinking of you, some are sending prayers, hopes for things to come to a peaceful conclusion. It doesn't appear that's going to happen. My heart breaks for those people. They, as all of us, just want to be left alone to raise our families, go to work or retire in peace. And Mr. Appleton is right - it was easy enough to see this coming, but no good way to stop it. And that's exactly what Putin wants - only it's the "old" Soviet Union he wants back - same shape, same square miles.
