The Republican Cult of Trump has been taken on another wild ride since the Mar-a-Lago search. It's been one ridiculous excuse after another, but they all fall dutifully into line. Trump once famously said, ‘I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?’ Translation: I could commit a crime and my base would stick right with me. It's one of the few times he spoke the truth.
