99.9% of the time I fully agree with you but this medical tourist was not traveling for essential medical care - it was cosmetic surgery and that is expensive, voluntary and elective.
Health care should not be a for profit institution, doctors should not be seeing large numbers of patients on a daily basis and charging high fees for a few minutes, big pharma is just as guilty, medicare for all would be a first step.
Sad but true. Years ago, an acquaintance went to India for an elective gastric bypass surgery in Goa. She got an infection and spent 10 days in Mumbai, hundreds of miles from Goa. False economy and near death.
