We have been subsidizing the big corporations and the banks and instead of so-called trickle down benefits, they take the money and either do stock buybacks or enrich themselves, it is time to stop giving the money to the rich and to start giving it to the Americans who actually need it. It will actually be beneficial for the country because people will have money to spend on something other than tuition.
I generally agree with you, Nick, but not here. College is ridiculously expensive (should be free!) and kids from low and middle income families need all the help they can get after they graduate and start their careers. If a few “rich” kids get some help—so be it. The rich will always manage to work the system—that’s how they stay rich!
But the rich shouldn't benefit. My daughter is paying for my granddaughters college education so she doesn't have to start out the way her mother is with student loan debt almost as large as her mortgage.
As a student, college is way too expensive. The bailout is not necessarily bad, in principle I agree, but what good is the bailout if colleges are free to keep charging such high, arbitrary prices.
My husband and I are middle class and our 2 older sons went to a private Ivy League university. We took out loans, they took out loans, but it was our choice. Our 3rd son was tuition free at University of Florida(due to his grades & the Bright Futures plan) so this will not affect us, but I am glad that there are people who will benefit from this.
TY, Nick, for your timely, spot-on cartoons. Love 'em. AS we see news about McConnell dispensing $$$$ from his war chest, I keep picturing him in tie-&-tails (like the little Monopoly guy) pulling money out of his overflowing "war" chest with one hand while he holds the leashes of multiple Senate (& House?) candidates (with names on each figure) who SIT dutifully around his feet. Behind the lid of his open chest are the non taxpaying corps and wealthy individuals furtively pouring money into the chest. Campaign finance Republican style.

In Biden's case, going around Congress is the main problem I have. I'm not wild about bailouts of any kind.
Cartoons somehow get at the truth. Keep them coming.

In any case, it is a great cartoon Mr. Anderson

This cartoon makes a great point and is much more effective than hearing people talk about debt forgiveness. Thanks for all you do, Nick!
